History was made when Goole Vikings Rugby League juniors travelled away to Bolsover Bulls for their first ever away fixture last Saturday.
The club’s Under-7s and Under-8s were provided with free travel in the form of a coach as a thank you for their efforts and attendance throughout the current pandemic. The fixtures with Bolsover consisted of two very relaxed games between the sides, with both clubs being relatively new, introducing the sport of rugby league in a free-flowing and casual manner was key to the day’s success. On the pitch young Viking Tommy Wood was the day’s top tackler with the ever-present William Hammond and Jake Thornton as joint top try-scorers.
Both sides displayed some excellent passing techniques and solid tackling in a very friendly environment and along with their parents, the children stepped on the coach home in high spirits. The Vikings juniors look forward to inviting the Bolsover Bulls to the VPG for a return fixture in the near future. Considering the club’s age and forming the junior section in the midst of a global pandemic, all at the Vikings are extremely pleased with the progress the youngsters have made so far. The club is currently accepting new players, boys, and girls between the ages of six and 11.
